‘LET’S GET HEALTHY!’

‘Huff and Puff’ Active Play initiative
Following a Big Lottery funding grant all partnership primary schools have had the opportunity to develop their playtimes by implementing the exciting ‘Huff & Puff’ active play scheme. Training was initially provided for school staff across the partnership and a wide range of innovative and fun equipment has been purchased for all schools. The aim of the initiative is to provide positive and engaging activities for pupils at break and lunchtimes and to increase physical activity levels. It is hoped that the additional activity will help schools generate positive behaviour during playtimes and contribute to the target of all pupils accessing 2 hours of high quality PE and school sport each week.
‘Huff & Puff’ is proving a real hit at Merdon Junior. Separate year group sessions have been set up and Year 6 pupils help to supervise the equipment and playing environment. “The equipment is bright and fun and we all love it!” (Year 6 Playground Pal).
