Year 10 Parental Consultation Evening - Younger children on site
Please will parents not bring younger children onto the site, unless it is absolutely unavoidable. In which case we are asking you to supervise them directly for the time they are at Toynbee. This is a big school site and we don't want anything going wrong or anyone getting hurt as a result of inappropriate behaviour. The next Parents' Evening for Year 7 is on Wednesday 19th January and for Year 8 on Tuesday 25th January, 4.30-7.00
Calshot Residential Report
A total of 150 pupils in Year 8 took part in residential activities designed to provide personal challenge and team building. The Calshot activities include climbing, sports and skiing. The event was subsidised by the Sports College of Toynbee and was a huge success.
Travel Plan - Cycling to School
Parents may well be more willing to allow their children to cycle to school when the new safer cycle stores are built in February half term. We have built in extra capacity so there will be more room to store bicycles. Tampering with them will also be made much harder as the stores are transparent and lockable.
Carol Service - Tuesday 7th December
The Methodist Church Chandlers Ford was the venue for the annual Carol Service. Congratulations to Mrs Marchant and the music team for such a good community event.
Toynbee Student Planners - value for money
A recent survey of the way our pupils use their homework diaries has come out very positively in favour of continuing to encourage this essential method of supporting independent learning. Pupils and parents find them useful. Teachers are 100% in favour of pupils using their planners to record daily homework. Thank you for contributing to the cost of printing.
Year 11 GCSE Study Leave/Mock Examinations
Although Year 11 are not in school from Friday 3rd December, except when they have an examination to take, I should like to remind parents that this is an opportunity for private study and revision for students.
Presentation Evening, 22nd November
Last year's Year 11 returned on 22nd November to receive their GCSE certificates and other prizes and awards. The Guest of Honour was Professor Caroline Thomas, Deputy Vice Chancellor of Southampton University.
Art News
On Wednesday 17th November 10 pupils from Years 7 and 8 attended a free party at Sega Park as they were finalists in the 'Daily Echo - Design a Logo' competition. The logo design was for their new Disability Magazine 'Access All Areas'.
The designers selected for this award were: Vincent Clavey, Rebekah Cooper, Blair Pursey, Jade Vaughan , Harry Thorne, Fiona Boyd, Zack Kaye, Kieran Gates, Georgina Stovold and Daisy Askew. Well done!
